Featuring Boston Drag Royalty Rose Quartz and a Star-Studded LGBTQIA+ Cast
Boston, MA – June 4th – This Pride Month, Boston’s comedy scene is getting a much-needed dose of fabulous. Improv Asylum proudly presents Fruit Basket, a 90-minute queer comedy explosion packed with audience-interactive improv, sketch comedy, and original songs — all served up by a cast of LGBTQIA+ performers from Improv Asylum’s NXT, House Teams, and Main Stage alumni.
Topping it off is a fierce special appearance by Boston drag legend Rose Quartz, bringing glam, wit, and a touch of camp to an already stacked lineup.
Fruit Basket isn’t just a show — it’s a celebration. Expect the unexpected as this fast-paced production flips between on-the-spot scenes inspired by audience suggestions, sharp scripted sketches, and bold musical moments. It’s queer, it’s chaotic, and it’s absolutely packed with pride.
“There’s nothing like seeing queer performers absolutely owning the stage — this show is a love letter to our community, our joy, and our humor,” said Steph Simon, director of Fruit Basket. “Fruit Basket isn’t here to play it safe. It’s here to be loud, hilarious, and fabulously gay.”
Hosted at Lil’ Chuck at the Charles Playhouse in Boston’s Theater District, Fruit Basket offers a safe, inclusive space for queer audiences and allies to laugh, connect, and celebrate. The show is open to all, but be advised — it proudly and unapologetically contains the gay agenda.
