You will learn to think quickly, improve your communication, and, most importantly, have fun. It’s the perfect way to dive into a new adventure. No experience? No problem. What Is Level One Improv?
Level One is our foundation course built specifically for people with little or no improv experience. Over eight weekly sessions, you’ll be introduced to the essential tools of improvisational comedy: listening, agreement, spontaneity, collaboration, and trust. The class is centered around fun, structured exercises that help you loosen up, connect with others, and build confidence. You’ll also explore basic scene work, learning how to create improvised moments in real-time with your classmates. This isn’t about being the funniest person in the room—it’s about learning to trust yourself, support others, and respond to the moment. Once those skills are in place, humor comes naturally. By the end of the course, you’ll be performing your own scenes—and having an incredible time doing it.
What You’ll Learn
Improv is a powerful tool, not just for performing but for life. It teaches useful skills in conversation, public speaking, brainstorming, problem-solving, and more. It’s fun, engaging, and surprisingly transformative!
Here’s what a typical class includes:
- Warm-Ups and Icebreakers: Start each session with games that get everyone moving, laughing, and connecting in a low-pressure way.
- Core Improv Principles: Embrace the “Yes, And” philosophy and learn to stay present, take creative risks, and build scenes collaboratively.
- Collaborative Games: Work as a team to build energy, unlock creativity, and practice active listening and group thinking.
- Scene Work: Learn how to create simple but powerful unscripted scenes using the skills you’ve built throughout the course.
Each class builds on the last at a comfortable pace, helping you grow in both skill and confidence. You’ll leave feeling energized and ready to do it all again without feeling overwhelmed.
