The Writers' Room Experience

The Asylum Performance Institute - Writing for Film and TV

The Writers’ Room Experience

In The Writers’ Room Experience, you’ll collaborate with your fellow writers to craft the second episode (after the pilot) of a brand-new half-hour comedy series, just like real writers do in the biz!

In this 8-week immersive class, you’ll dive right into the energy of the writer’s room, pitching stories and piling on ideas as a group to craft the funniest possible episode.

You’ll learn not just the art of storytelling and the best way to punch up jokes, but also the crucial skills of teamwork and how best to navigate a professional writers’ room.

You’ll also grasp the structure and guidelines of half-hour scriptwriting, so you leave with both the experience and knowledge to write for the small screen.

How To Write a Sellable TV Pitch

Got a good idea for a TV series?  Writing a solid TV pitch is an art form unto itself and completely different than writing a pilot script.  In this 6-week intensive workshop, you will turn your TV concept into a marketable, entertaining 15-minute verbal pitch.  Using Hollywood pitch guidelines, you will learn how to sell your original TV series to producers, networks, and streamers.  Stop saying, “I have a better idea than this stupid show…” and find out how to do it!”
